The Aia Piccola quarter

Returning to Largo Martellotta, on the right there opens up a stairway which leads to the Belvedere. Here you can admire the fascinating view of the whole of the Monti quarter. And from here you can walk towards the other hill of Alberobello, the ‘Aia Piccola’ quarter, less well-known by the tourists and less commercial than the other quarter but for this reason more intact and interesting. The quarter is characterized by numerous courtyards, or closed spaces which overlook the trullo. They are used in various ways. In the area there are 400 trulli and 1.500 inhabitants.

The ‘Aia Piccola’ quarter was declared a national monument in 1930.
