Walking further up, the street leads to largo Trichera where Ostuni Cathedral is to be found. Its façade is a perfect synthesis of gothic, Romanesque and byzantine elements. It was built between 1469 and 1500 and is built on a latin cross pattern made up of three naves. Within pictures of notable value from the 1700’s have been preserved with beautifully made wooden altars. The outside is dominated by the splendidly carved central rose window, a work of art considered to be one of the greatest and most fascinating in Europe and which was declared to be national monument in 1902.
