Walking along Via Cavour you reach a stretch of road with traditional houses with pointed roofs (Cummerse) on the city wall of the ancient town. However to admire these traditional houses with their sharp-pointed roofs covered with tiles, you need to move to via Nardella and to walk along what people from Locorotondo call the ‘seafront’ (lungomare). Even though the sea can only be imagined here, there is a natural balcony that looks over the Valle d’Itria from which you can admire Martina Franca and Cisternino. At dawn with dense mist, the valley disappears and this is probably where this curious name comes from.
